I have often wondered how a splice like this might be accomplished. Notice that this takes many hours. Notice also the cheap screwdrivers and the claw hammer.

My favorite parts are when they get out the blowtorch. Every time they do there is a highly flammable solvent on the other side of the cable in the direction the torch is pointing.
